A 1976 graduate of The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Heimlich moved to Houston with his wife, Bonnie, in the same year. Prior to vet school, Dr. Heimlich participated in the Peace Corps, stationed in the South Pacific. Dr. Heimlich began working at the Stuebner Airline Veterinary Hospital in 1978. Professional interests include internal medicine and abdominal surgery. An avid fisherman, he can be found many weekends along the Texas Gulf Coast sporting his rod and reel.
A 1981 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Schmitt has spent his career with the Stuebner Airline Veterinary Hospital, originally as a kennel assistant under Dr. Heimlich. He has done extensive work with poodle groups in the north Houston community, and receives referrals from neighboring veterinary practices for several delicate feline surgical procedures. Dr. Schmitt has many passions outside of the veterinary profession including weekend rides on his Harley Davidson as well as cool evenings spent with family and friends.
Originally founded in 1970, Dr. Whitmore started the Champions Veterinary Hosptial and moved the practice from its location on FM 1960, to its current home on July 4th, 1986. A proud Aggie graduate from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1970, Dr. Whitmore is an active member of the Letterman's Association at his alma mater. He enjoys passing his free time on the regional golf courses, fishing from his kayak, and spending time with his 4 children and beautiful wife Debbie. An accomplished ultrasonographer and endoscopist, Dr. Whitmore adds years of experience and talent to our practice.
Dr. Sherry Corona is a 2004 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. She first joined SAVH in March of 2017 as a Relief Vet and then started full time in April of 2018. She trained in Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) at the Chi Institute in Florida for Acupuncture and Food Therapy and enjoys practicing integrative medicine as well as traditional Western medicine. She also enjoys gardening, fishing, cooking, canning and playing with her crazy pooches, Emma & Fiona.
Dr. Amanda Wolff is a 2014 graduate from University of Illinois College of Veterinary medicine. Originally from Illinois, she previously practiced in South Carolina and New Jersey. Dr. Wolff became part of the SAVH team in September 2019. She enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine and has a special interest in preventative care, dentistry, and developing long term relationships with families. Dr. Wolff is grateful for the opportunity to have worked in different areas of the country, but is excited to settle down in Texas. She and her husband keep busy by trying to tire out their 2 German Shorthaired Pointers, Golden Retriever, and 1 year old son.
Dr. Ammons grew up in the countryside of southern England, but moved back to the US to attend Texas A&M University, graduating with honors. A 1999 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, she initially started out as a mixed animal veterinarian in East Texas. Dr. Ammons then spent the next 16 years in the field of emergency medicine before returning to general practice. She has an interest in soft tissue surgery and internal medicine. In her free time Dr. Ammons enjoys reading, gardening, horses and spending time at the beach. She also enjoys spending time with her Miniature Australian Sheperd, Dixie, and her two cats Patches and Cowboy.
